Family History with Grandma Norberg

We recently watched the video on John Rowe Moyle, who is my 7th Great Grandfather. He was an amazing example of faith and perseverance and the kids were really touched by his story and proud to know he is their ancestor. So this evening we went down to Lehi, picked up Grandma Norberg and went to Alpine, to the cemetery where Grandpa Norberg is buried as well as many of our ancestors, including John Rowe Moyle.

We put flowers on Grandpa's grave and Brandon was especially interested in searching for Carlisle, Whitby, Moyle and other family grave markers.

Grandma then took us over to John Rowe Moyle's Park which has his original house, Indian tower and other outbuildings, including an old grain shed which used to be on grandma's family's property when she was a child. We also drove past the area where the old Carlisle farm used to be which was neat.

It was so great to be able to see all these family history sites with such a great tour guide ... thanks Grandma!

Family Camp "In"

Tonight we had a family camp out in our backyard and it was super fun. We had a fire, roasted marshmallows, had smores and set up a HUGE tent and the kids got to sleep out overnight which they LOVED!!! They are begging to do this more often.

Labor Day Weekend

We had a fantastic time at the cabin over Labor Day weekend. Grandma Chris, Janeen & Chuck and Jody all joined us and we had such a fun weekend with perfect weather!

We always go to the Fort Bridger Mountain Man Rendezvous over Labor Day weekend but to be honest, everything this weekend was so much fun EXCEPT the Rendezvous. Too many people, too hot and too much commercialism (and we made the mistake of going in the afternoon when Kyle was so tired). Next year we will just skip the Rendezvous and do our own thing. :)

Aunt Kimberly whose cabin is by ours had all the families over for a Labor Day BBQ and it was FANTASTIC!! The food was incredible and it was so nice to visit with all the relatives on Grandma Jinx' side of the family. And the kids had so much fun playing in the creek with their cousins Isabella, Jackson, Jacob, Cole and Weylan. They spent the whole weekend on the lookout for cousins to play with and were so happy when they got there!

And then this morning we did a little fishing. We didn't really catch anything ...
except one tiny little trout that Eric managed to snag. But it was still fun.
