Happy FOURTH Birthday ERIC!

Eric's birthday is actually tomorrow but we celebrated it today. It was such a fun day and Eric had a blast!

First things first ... bake the cake!

Then go swimming over at the pool by our house! Eric LOVED it! It was also Kyle's first time swimming and he had so much fun in the water.

Then head up to the Stairs Plant up Big Cottonwood Canyon which Dave reserved (thru work) for Eric's birthday party. It was the perfect place for a party. The kids (young and old) had fun playing horseshoes, throwing the football, playing catch, playing soccer and just running around having fun!

Eric has been told that he is now 4 and no longer allowed to act like a 3 year-old. :) We are looking forward to what the new year brings for him. Thanks to everyone who came to his party.

Track & Field

Brandon had his first track meet this evening over at West Jordan High School. He really enjoys running track. This first meet (which we have been waiting and waiting for a dry day for) was a practice meet and a lot of fun. Each kid competes in three events of their choice.

Brandon did the long jump which he was really good at:

He also raced in the 50 meter dash and the 100 meter dash. This was a good meet for us to feel out his strengths. He did better in the 50 meter dash. The 100 meter was too long for him. We have decided that he needs to either do short sprints or long distance runs. Next time he wants to try the 800 meter and the 1600 meter.

The best part of the meet was that Brandon was able to not win everything and be okay with it. I think we are making some progress in that area.

Last Day of Kindergarten

Today was Brandon's last day of Kindergarten. Can you believe it? Next year he will be in school all day. I think that will be pretty hard on me. He will be attending Hawthorn Academy, a new charter school in the process of being built super close to our house (90th S & 22nd W). I am a founding parent for this new school and have been working for the past year to help get it up and running. I am really looking forward to the completion of the school and the boys and I love driving by it to see its progress. I think it will be a good school for Brandon.

Here is a picture of him at the start of Kindergarten:

And a picture of him today, on his last day:

Brandon is very anxious to start 1st grade and keeps asking me why he can't start 1st grade right away. I am sure it won't be long before he understands the joy that is summer vacation! For now I am glad that he loves school and learning!
