Labor Day Weekend

As always, we spent Labor Day weekend at our cabin.  We were lucky enough to have Aunt Amy, Ian and his little boy Ledger with us this weekend as well which was fun.  We always head down to Fort Bridger and spend some time at the Mountain Man Rendezvous.  We went first thing Saturday morning and it was perfect ... nice and cool and not too crowded.  It was great!

Also over the weekend the boys spent a lot of time in their new fort.

And fishing.

And of course playing in the creek with their cabin cousins!  We are so lucky to have so much wonderful family up at the cabin.  We love our cabin family!!!

And the kids weren't the only ones to have a great time this weekend.  Chunky LOVES exploring around and has turned into quite the mountain dog because he can take off exploring and always comes back.  He even managed to run off some cows that were too close to our cabin.  Ever seen one of those National Geographic videos where they show a pack of lions taking down an elephant?  Well that was Chunky, all on his own.  He went straight at those cows, jumped up onto the backside of one of those cows and ran them right out of town.  We were unsure whether Chunky would ever stop chasing them and come back but he did.  What a great watch dog! :)

Labor Day Weekend

We had a fantastic time at the cabin over Labor Day weekend. Grandma Chris, Janeen & Chuck and Jody all joined us and we had such a fun weekend with perfect weather!

We always go to the Fort Bridger Mountain Man Rendezvous over Labor Day weekend but to be honest, everything this weekend was so much fun EXCEPT the Rendezvous. Too many people, too hot and too much commercialism (and we made the mistake of going in the afternoon when Kyle was so tired). Next year we will just skip the Rendezvous and do our own thing. :)

Aunt Kimberly whose cabin is by ours had all the families over for a Labor Day BBQ and it was FANTASTIC!! The food was incredible and it was so nice to visit with all the relatives on Grandma Jinx' side of the family. And the kids had so much fun playing in the creek with their cousins Isabella, Jackson, Jacob, Cole and Weylan. They spent the whole weekend on the lookout for cousins to play with and were so happy when they got there!

And then this morning we did a little fishing. We didn't really catch anything ...
except one tiny little trout that Eric managed to snag. But it was still fun.

Labor Day Weekend at the Cabin

Labor Day weekend is one of our very most favorite weekends at the cabin. The weekend is longer and there are so many fun things to do. Kyle of course spent a good part of the weekend begging for rides on the 4-wheelers. You have to hear him say it, he's so stinkin' cute!!

And we finally got Kyle his own dumptruck so now all the boys have their own dumptrucks at the cabin to ride down the hill on. Kyle loves them so much, he just pushes them around, back and forth and back and forth.

Grandpa Clark brought along his good camera and took some long-over due family pictures of us. We have a few on our camera but I can't wait to see the professional ones. Hopefully we will get one with everyone smiling and looking straight at the camera. Miracles do happen. :)

I will update the post with better pictures once I get them.

Then of course, the best thing about Labor Day weekend is the Mountain Man Rendezvous in Fort Bridger.

The boys got their faces painted.

I have to admit ... Eric's was the COOLEST!!

We also got Kyle a "coon skin" hat to match his brothers hats from last year!

And a new addition to their mountain man get up this year was gun holsters. THEY LOVE THEM!!

It was a GREAT weekend!!

Labor Day Weekend at the Cabin

We had a WONDERFUL holiday weekend at the cabin. The weather forecast was iffy but the weather ended up being beautiful. We went up Friday after Brandon got out of school (early day = 1:00). We got up there at about 5:30 and had time to take a nice 4-wheel ride.

Darren & Cindy and their family were up at Grandma Jinx' cabin for the weekend. We joined them for cake and ice cream that evening to celebrate Darren's 35th birthday!

Kyle learned a new word that night "Nnnnoooo!" I got him some cake and tried to help him cut it and feed it to him and he was having none of that. He wanted to do it HIMSELF! But I have to admit it was so cute how he said "Nnnooo!" that I did have to keep trying a time or two just to hear him say it again. He is very independent!

On Saturday morning we went down to Fort Bridger along with Darren & Cindy to the Mountain Man Rendezvous. It is so much fun! We really look forward to it each year.

We get to see teepees ...

Check out cool guns ...

And see what life was like at the Fort long ago.

We got to see Bridger's old Fort which is super cool!

The boys got to get their faces painted with "Real Indian War Paint" ...

And got racoon skin hats.

It was a really fun outing. And of course they have wonderful food there which Dave & Darren were more than willing to partake of! :)

The weather did get a little colder that afternoon and evening and we did get a little rain. But it was nice. We just hung out and relaxed. I had checked out "The Candy Shop War" by Brandon Mull for Brandon so he would have a book to read over the weekend incase we were driven inside by the weather and being the little bookworm that he is (just like his mother) he had the entire book read in about 24 hours, over 400 pages. Wished I had gotten him a couple books. :)

On Sunday we forego the usual 4-wheeling for some calmer activities. We usually drive up to Bridger Lake and walk around the lake and have a little picnic.

On Monday we went on an early morning 4-wheel ride and went up really high up on Thunderbolt Mountain where we could circle the rim of the mountains and look down on everything. The boys had a great time searching for dinosaur bones and cool rocks. It was the perfect ending to a really nice weekend at the cabin!
