While the Cat is Away ...

Dave is out of town for work so of course for me that means ... project time! :)  Sorry honey, I love you but I just can't do projects with you around.  The cupboard in the half bath was my latest target.

A First for ERIC!!

Eric has had a loose tooth for a long time but today he finally lost his first tooth.  Of course, being Eric is wasn't just a calm event.  He was rough housing at recess and ran into another friends head and out popped his tooth! :)  The tooth was lost in the bark chips.  But never fear, he came home and set right to work writing a note to the tooth fairy, explaining why the actual tooth was missing and requesting money anyway.  Brandon told him there is no such thing as the tooth fairy and so he asked Dave who confirmed what Brandon said.  He offered Eric 50 cents for the missing tooth but Eric wasn't to be deterred from having the proper experience.  He insisted that the quarters should be placed under his pillow while he was sleeping.  So Dave did. :)  The tooth right next to it is loose as well so it won't be long before Eric has a mouth full of holes!

Dining Room Makeover

This past week I have been working on a couple projects around the house.  First, with the help of a great neighbor, I wallpapered one wall in the dining room.  To be honest, the wallpaper didn't turn out to be quite what I was hoping for but the overall look works so it turned out ok.  Then I painted the hand-me-down China Hutch that I had in our dining room black.  So the room went from this ...

... To this.

And I also recovered the chairs of our kitchen table so that they would actually match the rest of the room and also, I used outdoor fabric which should hopefully hold up better to the wear and tear of three rowdy boys!
